Product Info

Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free is made with the active ingredient L-Tyrosine, which supports relaxed, confident and focused behaviour in stressful or excitable situations. Made with Chia Seeds to help ease a nervous, unsettled gut.

Ideal to be fed to horses that get anxious during periods of travel, competitions or other challenging situations such as moving yard, changes of routine and fun rides.

Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free can be fed daily or before known changes in routine where they will feel anxious.

Low in Sugar (2.83%) and Starch (<0.5%) the key ingredients L-Tyrosine, Milled Chia Seeds, Vitamin C, Flax, and Peppermint Leaf make Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free a highly palatable supplement to help horses with anxious, nervous behaviour.

L-Tyrosine

Every horse is different and will have pre-existing levels of dopamine which can be depleted when stressed. L-Tyrosine is an amino acid that is used by the body to make neurotransmitters, such as Dopamine, Adrenaline and Norepinephrine. Under stress, the body burns through these neurotransmitters which can lead to insufficient levels in the brain and that can impact behavioural issues. Replenishing levels of L-Tyrosine can help maintain normal levels of these neurotransmitters helping your horse stay calm, relaxed, confident & focused.

Milled Chia Seeds

Milled chia seeds are ideal for a stressed upset gut as they support gut wall integrity, gut motility and support a healthy microbiome. They contain soluble fibre, which forms a gel-like substance when mixed with digestive fluids, helping ease an anxious, unsettled gut. The 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to 6 in Chia Seeds is close to the essential fatty acid ratio naturally present in pasture grasses.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Vitamin C is key for immune health and is an antioxidant, helping protect the brain and nervous system from oxidative damage. Vitamin C is also involved in the synthesis of Dopamine and Norepinephrine, brain chemicals that influence mood and behaviour.

Peppermint Leaf Powder

Peppermint encourages fussy horses to eat, and contains menthol, which can help to soothe the digestive tract, reduce gas, and provide support for horses suffering with digestive issues which can lead to behavioural issues.

Flax

Flax Seed is rich in soluble fibre, particularly mucilage which forms a gel like coating when mixed with digestive fluids acting as a barrier against stomach acid. Flax is one of the best plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid which can support the health of the brain and nervous system.

FAQ’s

My horse is fine at home, but gets stressed travelling & at shows, do I have to feed it everyday?

Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free can be fed daily or for 2-3 consecutive days at a loading dose feeding rate before known changes in routine where they will feel anxious.

What’s the active calming ingredient?

Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free is formulated with L-Tyrosine, an amino acid that is used by the body to make neurotransmitters, such as Dopamine, Adrenaline and Norepinephrine.

Can I feed Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free with Calmer Bites™?

Yes! Calmer Bites™ are a great way top up levels of L-Tyrosine if you horse has been stressed and depleted their levels (which can lead to behaviour issues). They are a handy bite size treat, perfect for keeping on the lorry. Feed 1-2 Calmer Bites™ 1 hour before required.

What’s the difference between Calmer PRO™ & Calmer PRO™ Soya Free?

The formulas are exactly the same, but we’ve removed the Soya and replaced it with Milled Chia Seeds for owners who prefer to have their horses on a Soya free diet.

Should I split the daily amount over two feeds?

It is recommended that your horse has its maintenance amount in one feed, so for a 500kg horse, you need to use 1 scoop into one feed and for a 600kg horse, 2 scoops into one feed. Do not split the maintenance dose into two feeds. 2 scoops per day = 2 scoops in one feed.

For loading doses (the first 3-5 days of feeding), you need to use the required dosage into two separate feeds (morning & evening).

I’m not sure my horse will eat it?

Palatability samples are available on our website, so that you can ensure your horse is happy to eat it.

Support for sensitive mare during tricky times

I bought this calmer on recommendation from my coach after my mare experienced a loss/a change of herds, to support her through this difficult time. It has definitely helped her cope better day to day, and I see a noticeable difference in her, especially when shes had some new experiences under saddle as well. I'll be using this going forward as part of her management plan.

No difference so far

My horse has been taking the calming supplement for 3 weeks and his behaviour is the same - not terrible, but anxious, 'looksy' with mini-spooks, especially when competing. I'll keep on with the calmer as I hope it just needs more time.

Calmer - works really well

I have tried many different calmers for a very lively horse, and this one is definitely the best. It doesn't take much, just a few days to make the difference. Wondering if i can use it instead of sedation for an upcoming lengthy trip...

such a relief!

My Section D had been taking this calmer for a while, and stupidly I thought his behavior was so good i wouldnt buy anymore. BIG MISTAKE! He reverted to his old stressy ways, had no focus and nappy to hack. Back on the calmer Pro and hes a changed pony, still cheeky, but calmer and more focused, which is good for both of us, happy pony, happy me!
