Product Info

SFM PRO™ - Step 3 – Soya Free is a maintenance gut supplement helping provide the digestive system with the nutrients it requires to maintain a healthy gut function and can be used as part of our 3-step programme.

SFM PRO™ - Step 3 – Soya Free includes essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids providing high quality equine nutrition. Ideal as part of a long-term feeding plan for continued gut health and for when grazing is limited, grass is lacking and throughout winter when nutrients in the grass are lower or turnout is restricted.

Low in Sugar (2.02%) and Starch (2.2%) and high in Fibre, the key ingredients Milled Chia Seeds, Flax, L-Alanine, Vitamin C & E and Peppermint Leaf contribute to supporting a healthy digestive system.

Milled Chia Seed

Milled chia seeds support gut wall integrity, gut motility and support a healthy microbiome. They contain soluble fibre, which forms a gel-like substance when mixed with digestive fluids. It helps slow down digestion, allowing better nutrient absorption and the fibre in chia acts as a prebiotic, assisting with the fermentation of forage. Chia Seeds also contain flavonoids and phenolic acids that help reduce oxidative stress. The 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to 6 in Chia Seeds is close to the essential fatty acid ratio naturally present in pasture grasses.

Flax

Flaxseed is rich in soluble fibre, particularly mucilage which forms a gel like coating when mixed with digestive fluids acting as a barrier against stomach acid. Flax is one of the best plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid helping with gastric and intestinal inflammation.

L-Alanine

L-Alanine is a proteinogenic amino acid; meaning that it is a building block for proteins and plays a key role in glucose production which provides energy to gut barrier cells.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Vital for collagen synthesis helping keep the gut wall flexible and strong.

Vitamin E (Natural dl-a-Tocopheryl Acetate 700iu)

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant, that plays a critical role in protecting the horse from everyday oxidative stress and supports health and protects cell membranes. In addition, it is an essential vitamin (meaning your horse cannot synthesise it and it must be provided in the diet).

Peppermint Leaf Powder

Peppermint encourages fussy horses to eat, and it contains menthol, which can help to soothe the digestive tract, reduce gas, and provide support for horses suffering with digestive issues.

3-Step Gastric Programme

Step 1 - Gastro™ is the most concentrated formula in the gastric range, helping preserve and restore intestinal barrier function. Ideal for horses showing symptoms of gastric discomfort, changes in behaviour, grass and turnout changes, travelling and competitions.

Step 2 - Gastro Extend can be used as a follow on from Gastro™ - Step 1 or used as maintenance if your horse competes regularly or is prone to stress.

Step 3 - SFM PRO & SFM PRO - Extra Calmer is a daily gut maintenance for your horses gut health. Includes essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids, ideal for when grazing is limited, grass is lacking and throughout winter when nutrients in the grass are lower or turnout is restricted.

FAQ’s

Can I feed this all year round?

Due to its Low Sugar (2.02%) and Starch (2.2%) content, SFM PRO™ - Step 3 – Soya Free can be fed throughout all seasons. The high levels of vitamins, minerals and amino acids contribute to providing high quality equine nutrition all year round.

What’s the difference between Step 2 and Step 3?

Extend™ Step 2 has a higher level of amino acids, of which some are different to SFM PRO™ - Step 3 – Soya Free. Extend™ Step 2 is a gut supplement for horses prone to gastric symptoms due to hard work, stress, travelling and competitions, whereas as Step 3 is formulated as part of a long-term feeding plan for continued gut health and for when grazing is limited, grass is lacking and throughout winter when nutrients in the grass are lower or turnout is restricted.

What’s the difference between SFM PRO™ & SFM PRO™ Soya Free?

The formulas are exactly the same but we’ve removed the Soya and replaced it with Milled Chia Seeds for owners who prefer to have their horses on a Soya free diet.

Should I split the daily amount over two feeds?

It is recommended that your horse has its maintenance amount in one feed, so for a 500kg horse, you need to use 1 scoop into one feed and for a 600kg horse, 2 scoops into one feed. Do not split the maintenance dose into two feeds. 2 scoops per day = 2 scoops in one feed.

For loading doses (the first 3-5 days of feeding), you need to use the required dosage into two separate feeds (morning & evening).

I’m not sure my horse will eat it?

Samples are available so that you can ensure your horse is happy to eat it. Just call one of the team on 01184 676715 to discuss.
