Product Info
Hoof Growth™ is a premium formula for hoof growth and health with a high level of Biotin (3.5g per scoop). Formulated for horses that have brittle hooves, compromised hoof health and those that are prone to losing shoes due to weak hoof structure.
Hoof quality is determined by diet and nutrition, but also by extreme weather conditions and hoof management. This high specification horse hoof supplement provides essential nutrients to help restore and strengthen the hoof wall.
Hoof Growth™ is formulated with key ingredients that support hoof health including, Biotin, L-Methionine, Threonine, L-Lysine & Zinc.
Blood flow is a key part of hoof regrowth, so the inclusion of the amino acid L-Arginine is vital to help widen blood vessels and improve circulation.
Use as part of a long-term feeding plan.
Biotin
Biotin is required in the horse’s diet for the production of keratin – the main protein that forms a strong, durable hoof structure by helping link keratin fibres together for stronger hoof wall density.
L-Lysine
A rate-limiting amino acid that is required in the horse’s diet because it cannot be made in the body. It’s essential for making collagen, the protein that forms the scaffolding inside the hoof’s laminae and in the coronary band where new hoof wall is formed.
L-Methionine
A rate-limiting amino acid which contains sulphur which forming bonds in keratin giving the hoof its strength & hardness.
Threonine
Vital for protein synthesis, especially structural proteins like keratin and collagen. It helps maintain the connective tissue inside the hoof (laminae), which anchors the hoof wall to the bone.
L-Arginine
An amino acid, converted in the body into Nitric Oxide(NO), helping to deliver nutrients by widening tiny blood vessels in the foot, improving microcirculation to the laminae.
Zinc Sulphate
Zinc is one of the most important trace minerals for hoof health in horses. Zinc is required for the enzymes that build keratin molecules an integral part of a strong hoof wall structure.
FAQ’s
What are the signs my horse needs a hoof supplement?
It could show itself in many ways including vertical cracks, a soft & crumbly texture, ridges (from lack of nutrients or historical issues such as laminitis), not much growth between farrier visits, hoof wall easily breaks and losing shoes easily. It is ideal for horses whether they are shod or barefoot.
How long should my horse stay on Hoof Growth?
We would recommend you use Hoof Growth™ as part of a long-term feeding plan. A complete regrowth of hoof from the coronet band to the ground is estimated to take 9-12 months for front hooves and 6-9 months for back hooves.
Do speak with your farrier to get a professional opinion on how your horse’s feet are doing each time they are shod or trimmed.
Should I split the daily amount over two feeds?
It is recommended that your horse has its maintenance amount in one feed, so for a 500kg horse, you need to use 1 scoop into one feed and for a 600kg horse, 2 scoops into one feed. Do not split the maintenance dose into two feeds. 2 scoops per day = 2 scoops in one feed.
For loading doses (the first 3-5 days of feeding), you need to use the required dosage into two separate feeds (morning & evening).
I’m not sure my horse will eat it?
Palatability samples are available on our website, so that you can ensure your horse is happy to eat it.
